Pillowman Auditions
November 21st & 22nd at 6PM
February 21, 22, 28 & March 1 | Creative 360
Director: Megan Krause
Pillowman is a darkly comedic play by Martin McDonagh that explores the thin line between fiction and reality. Set in a totalitarian state, it follows Katurian, a writer whose disturbing short stories come under scrutiny when a series of child murders echoes the themes of his work. As he faces interrogation by two mysterious detectives, the play delves into the nature of storytelling, morality, and the power of imagination. With its sharp wit and unsettling twists, Pillowman challenges audiences to confront the darker aspects of creativity and the human psyche. Perfect for those drawn to provocative themes and complex characters, this play promises a riveting theatrical experience. Pillowman will be performed at Creative 360 in a somewhat immersive experience, we will play with how we treat the audience as they enter the space and do this performance in a thrust enviornment.

Character Breakdown
In The Real World…
TUPOLSKI (M , 30+) Detective. Very sardonic, similar to one from a 70s cop show. Utterly brutal but enjoys playing “good cop”.

ARIEL (M, 20s/30s) Violent and sadistic cop. Enjoys playing “bad cop” but in fact with a strange and very correct sense of right and wrong.
MICHAL (M, 30+) Katurian’s older brother but with the mind of a child. Capable of a chilling detached violence.
